In an era where environmental consciousness is at its peak, Engen Ghana Limited (EGL), a leading player in the oil marketing industry, has stepped up its efforts to raise awareness on the importance of recycling in our society.
Recognising the urgent need to address the effects of plastics on our environment, EGL is leading the charge with a recycling campaign drive that promotes sustainability and sets a benchmark for the entire industry.
The recycling drive, an EGL-led partnership with Coliba Ghana, commenced in October 2022 with recycling bins at four Engen Service Stations in Accra, Achimota, Pokuase, St. John’s, and Kwabenya.
At a recycling campaign event at Engen Achimota on the September 7, 2023, the Corporate Communications Manager at Engen Ghana Limited, Georgette Quarmyne, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to keeping plastics off our streets and the decision to lead the charge with the plastic recycling campaign drive.
In her remarks, she stated, "With every successful campaign, public awareness and participation is needed, and we humbly implore the good people of Ghana to join EGL in our quest to rid our streets of plastic waste and create a cleaner and greener planet for posterity”.
She also hinted that the next phase of the plastic recycling campaign will involve an incentive system that will reward everyone who drops off their plastics for recycling.
Engen Ghana Limited will continue to strengthen its partnership with Coliba and other environmental organisations and government agencies to maximise its impact and reach.
These collaborations, they hope, will lead to the development of innovative recycling solutions and promote sustainable practices in our country.
