Tonight, JoyNews will hold a discussion on how to address the dialysis crisis facing the country, and debate about ways to support patients and maintaining a healthy kidney among Ghanaians.
Currently, there is a crisis in access to renal dialysis at health facilities across the country which has prompted this JoyNews Thought Leadership Event on the Dialysis Crisis.

At 5 p.m., the show will bring together 10 seasoned experts to deliberate measures to nip the emerging health scare in the bud.
Event to be streamed below:
The need for dialogue regarding kidney diseases re-surfaced at the just-ended #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest where an aggrieved participant voiced her concern.

She was expressing her anger at the loss of the life of a 24-year-old patient as a result of the inability to afford treatment costs.
After this event, another signage went viral indicating the dialysis cost to be borne by patients with kidney disease at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Hospital earlier confirmed to JoyNews that it decided to increase the cost from GH¢380 to GH¢765.

KBTH's Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Salifu explained that this increment was brought about as a result of the high taxes on consumables and import duties.
The CEO announced a U-turn in a subsequent communique, saying the hike was yet to be approved adding that the hospital will revert to the old rate.
But the Renal Patients Association of Ghana, comprised of individuals with kidney conditions, has disclosed that fourteen of its members passed away between May and September while at the hospital.
Last night, Myjoyonline.com also reported that a 15-year-old renal patient on dialysis at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, who appealed for support in an interview with JoyNews, has died.
The mother of the young girl, Priscilla Asante, revealed that her daughter passed away early Sunday at 1 a.m.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, Madam Ruth said that she saw her daughter, Priscilla, bloating on the day of her passing.
She added the doctor had informed her that this was an indication both kidneys of the young girl had failed.
Speaking on Joy FM's Newsnight, on Wednesday, the headmaster of Mampong Catholic A Basic School, where Priscilla was a pupil, revealed that the young girl had been writing her third term examination prior to the tragedy.
This and many other developments will be tabled before the team of experts geared up for the JoyNews Thought Leadership Event including the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital CEO, Dr Opoku Ware Amponsah, Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, President of the Ghana Kidney Association, Prof Sampson Antwi and a kidney patients Thomas Vincent Cann and Kojo Baah Ahenkorah.
Former General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, Dr Titus Beyuo, Senior Nursing Officer at the KBTH's Renal Dialysis Unit, James Mckeown, CDD-Ghana Fellow in Public Health, Kwame Sarpong Asiedu, President of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo and Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service in the Eastern Region, Dr Fred Adomako-Boateng.
