As part of efforts to promote the early detection of breast cancer and save lives, Sonotech Medical and Diagnostic Center has organised a free breast cancer and medical screening for residents of Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
The screening, which formed part of Sonotech’s month-long breast cancer awareness creation in October to mark the global Breast Cancer month, was for the first time taken out of Accra.
Sonotech's comprehensive health screening event provided the community with free breast screenings and an array of general health checks, including Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis B and C, malaria, typhoid, retroscreen and many others.
Attendees also had the opportunity to engage in a free one-on-one consultation with doctors and other health professionals as well as gain access to some free drugs to help with treatment.
The Medical Director of Sonotech Medical and Diagnostic Center, Dr Grace Buckman noted that the screening which is part of the Facility’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is part of collective efforts aimed at educating the public about the importance of breast cancer awareness and encourage self-examination and clinical breast screening for early detection.
She expressed gratitude to the Swedru Government Hospital, Agona West Municipal Health Directorate, and Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, whose collaborations made the event a success.
By extending this initiative to Agona Swedru, the Medical Facility is not only expanding its reach but also instilling hope and health awareness in the community.
