The New Ghana Social Justice Forum is urging President Akufo-Addo to direct the cancellation of all end-of-year parties in Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The group, in a press release on Monday, November 20, asserted that the country's financial state does not warrant such expenditures, and therefore, plans for such events should be abandoned.

The group contends that Ghana's current economic challenges, including seeking assistance from the IMF, are indicative of systemic issues involving the misappropriation of public funds by officials.
In their press release, the group stated that it will be a national betrayal should "government institutions stubbornly jettison this petition to cancel all upcoming end of year parties in public institutions."
