The Allied Health Professions Council has announced plans to embark on a nationwide exercise to rid health facilities of non-professionals.
This follows a successful exercise in the Greater Accra region.
The Acting Registrar Mr. Daniel Atta-Nyarko believes the move will protect the interest of Ghanaian healthcare seekers.
“The exercise which started in the Greater Accra region will be extended to all parts of the country to check the activities of quacks in the allied health industry who have invaded the health sector.
“It’s our hope and prayer that we continue with the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Health, law enforcement agencies and the media to make the exercise a complete success,” he said.
He said this during the 9th induction and oath swearing for newly qualified allied health graduates in Kumasi.
The event was under the theme: Eliminating quacks to promote quality healthcare in achieving universal health coverage: The role of the Allied Health Professional.
He asked the Ministry of Health and the government to, as difficult as it may seem, give the Allied Health Professions the very best considerations when it comes to clearance for the health professionals.
This year’s induction marks the 10th anniversary of the Council.
Over 1,000 graduands were issued with certificates.
