Nigerian defender, Kevin Akpoguma, has described Ghana’s Kasim Adams’s lack of playing time at Hoffenheim as an unlucky situation.
The Black Stars defender is yet to play any minutes for the Bundesliga club after 13 games into the season and is not even making the match-day squad.
Last season, the former Young Boys man joined Basel on a season-long loan and featured in 50 games in all competitions and scored three goals. There was an option for the Swiss club to make the move permanent, but they opted out, seeing him return to Hoffenheim this season.
Joy Sports editor, Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, who’s in Germany for a five-day Bundesliga tour, asked Akpoguma about how Adams is coping with his non-playing time on Saturday after Hoffenheim’s 2-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Nigerian defender said, “He’s doing well. I think it’s a very unlucky situation for him. Competition is very high in our positions.
“He came as a big player for us with a lot of expectations. Very unlucky times, but, he’s training well, doing good, he’s happy, and giving good energy to the team during training.
“I just hope that I’m the future he gets back to regular play here or in a different team because he deserves it with his attitude. He’s a very good guy
“I hope also that he will get selected for the AFCON so he can show himself again because I know he’s a very good player.”
