One of the parliamentary aspirants vying to become the Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Barima Sarpong, has been tipped by some political observers and delegates to emerge victorious.
The Communication Specialist with a legal background picked number 2 on the parliamentary primary ballot, and indicated his readiness to rescue the constituency and make it better for the people.
Some supporters and delegates have indicated that they have confidence in Barima Sarpong and are ready to vote for him to lead the party in the constituency.
Richard Barima Sarpong was born on November 17, 1982, and raised in Dawu near Jamasi, a town in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
He attended Dawu L/A Junior High School, proceeded to Adu Gyamfi Senior High School, and later continued to the University of Ghana, where he studied political science and sociology.
After completing his undergraduate studies, he pursued a Master's in Development Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
With a passion for law and advocacy, Barima Sarpong enrolled at Mountcrest University, where he studied for a Bachelor of Law (LLB).
After LLB, he proceeded to study the Professional Law Programme at the Ghana School of Law (Makola).
Barima has also acquired knowledge of insurance by studying the legal aspects of insurance at the Ghana Insurance College.
Barima Sarpong is married and has been able to balance his personal and professional life with ease.
Currently, Barima Sarpong serves as Spokesperson and the Communications Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), where he has been instrumental in shaping and implementing the National Health Insurance Scheme's (NHIS) communication strategy.
In addition to his work at the NHIS, Barima Sarpong is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party and an aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency.
He has been actively involved in politics and has attempted to contest for the MP seat towards the 2020 election.
Throughout his career, Barima Sarpong has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, a passion for advocacy, and a desire to make a positive impact in his constituency.
His dedication to his work and his commitment to excellence have made him a respected figure in his field, and he continues to be an inspiration to many.
According to some NPP supporters in the constituency, the party needs such a dynamic personality to serve as their Member of Parliament.
