The Mampong Traditional Council has reminded chiefs to remain neutral in all political matters in the country.
This reminder comes ahead of the general election as Ghana goes to the polls on December 7.
The call was emphasized in a press statement dated Monday, January 22, 2024.

The statement signed by the Council's Registrar, Bright Owusu-Ansah referenced the constitutional provision in Article 276(1) which enumerates that "A chief shall not take part in politics; and any chief wishing to do so and seeking an election to Parliament shall abdicate his stool or skin."
On the back of this, the Registrar conveyed the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II's re-echoing of this provision urging chiefs to be guided accordingly.
