ASA Savings and Loans through its Akim Oda branch has donated medical equipment and other items to the Akyem Aboabo Health Center in the Birim Central Municipality, to enable them deliver the best of healthcare services to the inhabitants.

The gesture followed a request made by the facility to the financial institution.

The items presented were two delivery beds, five hospital bed sheets, two gun thermometers, two digital BP monitors, two digital weighing scales, two ward screens, and a nebulizer to cater for asthmatic patients.

The others are four Crompton Greaves ceiling fans to improve ventilation in the newly constructed wards of the facility.

At a ceremony to present the items, Richard Nartey, the CSR/Sustainability Manager of the company said management of ASA had decided to give back to society to put smiles on the faces of the inhabitants.

"Our gesture extends to cover areas of educational infrastructure provision, free medical screening to the Ghanaian populace, support to brilliant but needy students, and provision of potable water to under privileged communities among others.”

The Area Manager of ASA Savings & Loans, David Amevor, who led the team from ASA to present the items, entreated the health workers to maintain the items properly and use them well for their intended purpose.

The Branch Manager of ASA at Akim Oda, Selina Brown, said "the majority of the company’s customers are women and inhabitants of this community, so especially with the delivery beds we presented, it will go a long way to reduce maternal mortality and help in meeting the sustainable development goal (SDG 4 Good Health and Well Being)."

The Birim Central Municipal Health Director, Bismark Sarkodie, applauded ASA for the support and promised to use the equipment for its rightful purpose. He was hopeful the items donated would go a long way to improve lives in Akyem Aboabo and its neighboring communities.

The Senior Midwifery Officer In-Charge, Agnes Adabraka, pleaded with benevolent organizations and individuals to come to their aid to construct a nurses quarters since the medical staff stay far away from the facility due to lack of a nearby accommodation.

This, according to her, will ensure prompt response to emergencies when they come.

Also present at the brief ceremony was the Akyem Aboabo Assembly Member, Emmanuel Appiah Kubi.
