Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has affirmed the government's unwavering commitment to advancing education nationwide despite prevailing economic challenges.
Dr. Adutwum assured that the government will implement a series of initiatives to drive education forward and ensure no child is left behind.
Speaking during the launch of the Ghana Smart Schools Project, aimed at providing every SHS student with a tablet, Dr. Adutwum underscored the government's continuous investment in education.
He emphasised the government's broader objective of fostering a robust economy to create fiscal space for meeting the substantial demands of the educational sector.
“[Someone] looked at me and said 'so you are doing all these in the midst of economic challenges', and I said that is what a visionary president does. To ensure that we build a strong and robust education for the economy. This economy will stand the test of time. This is the foundation.”
Again, the project forms part of the government's concerted efforts to amplify e-learning and digitization initiatives.
This initiative aims to strengthen senior high school education by providing comprehensive teaching and learning management systems, digital learning content, and electronic devices to all senior high and TVET schools nationwide.
Aligned with the Ministry of Education’s digitalisation agenda for pre-tertiary education, the project supports the government's overarching objective of harnessing technological advancements to equip Ghanaian students for the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The Ghana Smart Schools project represents a significant milestone in realizing the Education for Sustainable Development Agenda, recognized as a pivotal driver for rapid socio-economic transformation.
