Ghana Amputee Football Captain, Richard Arthur, has expressed deep frustration over the ongoing neglect of disabled individuals in Ghana.
In an impassioned plea during an interview with Nathaniel Attoh on the JoySportsLink on Joy 99.7FM, he emphasized that people with disabilities often feel discriminated against and called for an end to this unjust treatment.
"Every cycle in Ghana disabled are not considered. I'm telling the honest truth, we feel discriminated and it's about time they put a stop to it."
Arthur highlighted the universality of potential disability, reminding everyone that they could find themselves in a similar situation someday.
"Anybody can be disabled at any point in time. If I'm in this situation and you're treating me this way, if you also unfortunately join the train, how would you expect to be treated?"
He urged authorities to move beyond mere rhetoric and take tangible steps towards inclusiveness, stressing that action is necessary to ensure equal treatment and opportunities for all, regardless of their physical abilities.
"So I'm appealing to authorities for inclusiveness. It shouldn't just be about talking but showing action."
The Black Challenge have won back to back Amputee Africa Cup of Nations trophies despite the struggle for support from government.
