Chiefs and elders of Wassa Grumisa in the Wassa-Amenfi East district of the Western Region have invoked curses on persons responsible for the exhumation of corpses in the community’s cemetery.
This situation has caused significant distress among the residents, prompting traditional leaders to take action.
In the past two weeks, over 10 graves have been desecrated by unknown individuals believed to be residents of the Wassa Grumisa community.
Despite repeated pleas for the perpetrators to desist from these illegal and disrespectful activities, the exhumations have continued.
Reacting to this ongoing violation, the chiefs and elders of Wassa Grumisa have invoked curses in an attempt to seek justice and retribution.
They revealed this is the first time such an incident has occurred in the community, prompting them to call upon their gods to intervene.
Describing the situation as embarrassing and deeply troubling, the elders asked the gods to identify and punish those responsible.
Their demand was not for the death of the perpetrators but rather for them to suffer and fail in whatever they intend to use the bodies for.
