The Vice Chair of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) considers the perception of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as arrogant as valuable feedback.
He told Evans Mensah on Joy News’ PM Express on Wednesday, “We take everything as feedback and things that we think are erroneous impressions.
"What we have to do to correct those impressions, we do. Things that we think are legitimate points of feedback, we take them and then we act on them.”
“We live in a society where sometimes confidence is misconstrued as arrogance. I’ve been described as such by some people,” he added.
The Works and Housing Minister Nkrumah emphasised that the party’s leader, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is not one to dismiss any feedback.
This, he said, is evident in his town hall meetings where he engages openly with critiques and feedback.
According to the Ofoase Ayeribi MP, despite having a strong following in the Ashanti Region, the Manhyia MP has earned his position in the party through his commendable track record over the years.
“If it was about galvanising your base, if it was that, it could have been anyone else. But this is a person who comes with a stronger track record from about 2009 as an MP.
"He has a strong track record in handling two of the most difficult ministries in the administration (Education and Energy), with a strong record in the party, serving in various capacities.”
On Thursday, July 4, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NPP is set to meet to discuss the flagbearer’s choice of running mate for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia is anticipated to present and justify his selection of Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, highlighting why he believes his choice is the most suitable candidate for the vice-presidential role.
This procedure aligns with the party’s constitution, which mandates that the NEC, as the second highest decision-making body, must approve or reject the nomination.
