Chelsea star, Enzo Fernandes, has issued an apology through his social media handle on Instagram, for his role in the 'racist' chants targeted at France's black players.
Fernandes, who recorded the video, was seen singing the song along with other members of Argentina's national team members, following their Copa America victory against Colombia on Sunday night.
Chelsea have since launched an investigation into the incident, which captured their second most expensive player and teammates singing about how French players are 'from Angola' or have a 'Nigerian' mother and a 'Cameroonian' father.

One of Chelsea's French players of African descent, Wesley Fofana, took to twitter (X) to accuse Fernandes of 'uninhibited racism' while the rest of his countrymen, Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile reportedly unfollowed their Argentine teammate.
The 23-year old has since issued an apology in which he said 'That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my beliefs or my character. I am truly sorry.'
The chant was first composed by Argentina's fans in 2022 following their victory against France in the World Cup final.
The chant in full
'Listen, spread the word;
They play in France, but they are all from Angola;
How nice it is! They are going to run;
They are 'cometravas'* like f***ing Mbappé;
Their mom is Nigerian;
Their dad, Cameroonian.
But in the document ...Nationality: French.'
*'Cometravas' is a slang term that loosely translates to somebody who has sex with transgender people.
