The 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has assured Ghanaians that he will remain truthful and avoid making promises he cannot fulfil as he campaigns for votes ahead of the December 7 polls.
Speaking at the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, Mr Mahama emphasised his commitment to honesty and integrity in his bid for the presidency.
During his speech, Mr Mahama acknowledged that his previous presidency faced challenges, but asserted that Ghana was making progress during his tenure.
He pledged to continue being transparent with the citizens and to build on the foundations laid during his previous administration if elected again.
The former President highlighted that he has gained valuable insights and experience from his time in office.
He expressed his determination to apply these lessons to improve the country's governance and development, ensuring better outcomes for all Ghanaians.
Mr Mahama stressed the importance of trust between the government and the people, vowing to maintain open communication and accountability.
He reassured the electorate that his administration would focus on addressing their needs and concerns with sincerity and dedication.
In conclusion, Mr Mahama called on Ghanaians to support his candidacy, promising to lead with honesty and to fulfil his commitments.
He urged the public to vote for the NDC in the upcoming elections, emphasising his readiness to serve the nation once more with renewed vigour and a clear vision for Ghana’s future.
“I’ve been out of government for eight years now. I did my best, I wouldn’t say things were perfect but at least we were making progress. What I can promise you is that I will be truthful to you, I will never tell you lies, I will never tell you things I cannot do,” Mr Mahama said.
