Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Thursday called on Ministers of the Gospel to co-operate with the government to build a democratic, transparent and accountable state.
Making the call during a meeting with members of the Sekondi-Takoradi Network of Ministers of the Gospel at Sekondi, he said the Church and the
State had complimentary roles to play in development.
Mr Aidoo said the clergy should use the pulpit to educate members of their congregation on the need to participate in the national development process and desist from acts that held back the country’s progress.
He expressed concern that people are disregarding building regulations and putting up houses on waterways and other unapproved places, resulting in unplanned development.
Mr Aidoo said this had led to the recent flooding in parts of the country. Members of the Network expressed their preparedness to place their services at the disposal of the Regional Co-ordinating Council and to support economic, political and social programmes of government.
