The immediate past National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that he considers his tenure to have been highly successful.
According to Dr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, his performance during his time in office is evident in the numbers and votes, which reflect his effectiveness.
Speaking on Personality Profile with Lexis Bill on Joy FM on Thursday, August 22, Dr Ofosu-Ampofo expressed disappointment that he was not re-elected to the national chair position.
“I have some sense of disappointment because I thought that we were moving towards a certain trajectory and given the opportunity, I could have moved the party to win the 2024 elections,” he said.
However, he expressed confidence in the current leadership of the party to secure victory in the forthcoming elections due to the robust structures within the NDC.
Dr Ofosu-Ampofo noted that many of the party's structures, which are crucial to winning elections, were established during his tenure.
“The only structure that was not put in place by my administration is the National Executives because the structures of the party start from the branches so when we lost the elections in 2020 and we started the reorganisation, we reorganised the party from the branches to the wards, to the constituency to the regions, all were done under my auspices,” he explained.
He added that, together with his team, they had already positioned the party for success in the upcoming elections.
“I have no doubt at all that the current leadership is capable of winning the elections,” the former NDC National Chairman said.
