The Accra Circuit Court has discharged four additional protesters from the Democracy Hub after the state withdrew charges against them.
This decision marks another significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings concerning the recent demonstrations.
The discharged individuals—Cedric Bansah, Emmanuel Offei, Nana Amo Mensah Prempeh, and Thomas Yeboah—are now free from the charges that had previously been leveled against them.
During the court session, the state prosecution team informed the judge that they had filed new charges to replace the original ones brought against the protesters on September 25.
This latest ruling brings the total number of discharged protesters to 11, highlighting a trend of releases as the court processes cases related to the demonstrations.
A total of 53 protesters were arrested during the three-day demonstration that took place from September 21 to September 23.
The protests were aimed at addressing various political and social issues, with participants calling for reforms and accountability from the government.
Just days before this ruling, on Tuesday, October 22, seven protesters were also discharged, reflecting an ongoing reevaluation of the legal standing of those involved in the Democracy Hub demonstrations.
