Tthe flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has taken aim at the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming they have run out of effective policies and ideas to address Ghana’s challenges.
Speaking at a campaign rally in the Central Region on Friday, Mahama described the NPP’s approach as “exhausted” and criticized what he sees as their inability to provide fresh solutions for the country.
Mahama expressed doubts about recent pledges made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, pointing out that many of the policy changes Bawumia advocates were put in place during his own administration.
“They promise to do what they have already done,” Mahama remarked, suggesting that the NPP is merely repeating past strategies that he views as insufficient for the nation’s current needs.
Furthermore, Mahama criticised President Nana Akufo-Addo for recently unveiling a statue of himself in Takoradi, interpreting the act as unnecessary “self-praise.”
He argued that such gestures are disconnected from the real issues affecting the people of the region and fail to bring any tangible development.
According to Mahama, Ghana needs leaders who prioritise meaningful progress rather than symbolic acts.
He encouraged Ghanaians to support leaders with innovative, people-centred ideas capable of addressing the country’s most pressing needs.
Mahama reiterated his commitment to bringing fresh ideas to governance, urging voters to embrace change and support the NDC in the upcoming elections.
