The Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama says predictions of former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning the upcoming elections are unlikely to materialise.
The MP argued that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have delivered the best for Ghana and, therefore, deserve another opportunity.
According to him, the electorate will choose the NPP over the NDC based on their own decisions, not on predictions made by research bodies.
“We don’t want to rely on predictions. The good people of Ghana will decide who will lead us in December. So, Fitch and Afrobarometer projecting that His Excellency John Mahama will win – that is not going to happen,” he said.
The MP was speaking on Joy News’ AM Show on Wednesday, 13th November, 2024, with Benjamin Akakpo to discuss the upcoming election.
Mr Mahama added that Dr Bawumia is doing an excellent job by informing Ghanaians about his achievements as Vice President and outlining what he intends to do when he becomes president.
“We are going to win emphatically. The Vice President is currently touring the Ashanti Region, and there is no way we will sit back and leave any stone unturned. Until the last ballot is counted, we will not rely on any predictions,” he stated.
A recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), maintaining a significant lead over Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The poll indicates Mahama will secure 51.1% of committed voters, while Bawumia will trail with 37.3%.
