The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed a circulating video on social media that alleges a supposed Voters Register for Ahafo Ano 1 and 2 was being transported in a white pick-up truck along with other registers.
In a statement, the EC clarified that the register seen in the video does not belong to the Commission.
The Commission explained that its official voter's registers are printed in black and white, unlike the coloured version displayed in the footage.
The EC emphasized that, as part of standard practice, the final register is provided to political parties who, in turn, print copies for their polling agents.
"It is instructive to note that the truck in the video does not belong to the Commission," the statement noted.
The EC further disassociated itself from the white pick-up truck seen in the video, confirming that the vehicle is not part of its fleet.
The EC urged the public to disregard the video, describing it as a deliberate attempt to create suspicion and mistrust in the electoral process.
To address the issue, the Commission called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter thoroughly.
“The registration number of the pick-up truck, which is visible in the video, should be able to assist the Police in their investigations,” the EC added.
