President Nana Akufo-Addo will today, 5th December 2024, commission several hospital projects as part of the government’s flagship Agenda 111 programme.
The initiative aims to expand healthcare infrastructure nationwide, enhancing access to quality medical services for Ghanaians.
The inauguration includes the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both located in the Ashanti Region.
These facilities form part of the broader Agenda 111 plan to construct 111 district and specialised hospitals across the country, a cornerstone of the government's commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, the Presidential Advisor on Health, underscored the importance of these hospitals, noting their modern facilities and the training provided to staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
He detailed their state-of-the-art features, including a 100-bed capacity, accident and emergency centres, neonatal and paediatric units, maternity wards, and additional amenities such as kitchens, mortuaries, outpatient departments, pharmacies, X-ray and laboratory facilities.
“These hospitals are equipped with eye, dental, and ENT departments, alongside consulting rooms and public health units,” Dr Nsiah-Asare explained.
He emphasised that the comprehensive nature of these facilities reflects the government’s vision to address overcrowding in existing hospitals and improve health outcomes.
