Joy News has learned that across the various polling stations in the Bawku Central constituency in the Upper East region, no polling station has more than 500 voters.
Joy News' Albert Sore reports from the area that Electoral Commission (EC) officials have confirmed that no more than 500 voters are assigned to each polling station.
According to him, voting commenced early at Bawku but with a low turnout, while there had been no disturbances from either the EC or the community.
As a conflict zone, Bawku has been under a renewed curfew for the past few weeks. Reports indicate that there have been frequent gunshots in the area in the lead-up to the election.
However, Albert reports that no gunshots have been heard in the past three days.
Joy News also understands that the entire Bawku enclave in the Upper East Region is calm, indicating that the Bawku conflict is not affecting the ongoing election process.
