Ghanaian producer, Edward Nana Poku Osei popularly known as Hammer, has announced a major change to his highly-anticipated project, 'Upper Echelons'.
Initially intended as a full-length album, the project will now be released as a six-track EP before the year ends.
The decision, he revealed in a post on Instagram, stems from his commitment to traditional collaborative methods, which he believes have slowed the album’s progress.
“It looks like staying true to producer principles has cost me valuable time in completing the Upper Echelon album,” Hammer wrote.
He emphasized his aversion to the modern practice of emailing beats, which he believes undermines the creative chemistry of making music in shared spaces.
The producer explained that, out of 13 songs initially planned for the album, six are ready to be released as an EP.
Additionally, the remaining seven tracks, he said, will be unveiled in three months under a new project titled “Roadmen.”
“I’m confident these six will suffice in meeting the heightened level of anticipation surrounding my return to music,” he added, expressing gratitude to fans for their patience and enthusiasm.
