Kick2Build Foundation, a non-profit organization, has commissioned five modern libraries for five basic schools in Klo Agogo, located in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The foundation also donated school bags and books to the schoolchildren.

The beneficiary schools include Klo Agogo M/A Basic School, Klo Agogo Anglican School, and Klo Agogo Presby School. The other recipients are Klo Agogo R/C School and Trawa R/C Primary School.

The project, situated in one of Ghana's rural communities, aims to improve students' reading skills and enhance their overall academic performance.

The performance of students in the area is reported to be at an all-time low, posing significant challenges for both teachers and students in teaching and learning.

Nana Konadu Boakye, the CEO of Kick2Build Foundation, emphasized that the library project is designed to foster a culture of reading among students and improve academic outcomes in underprivileged communities.

"We came here last year to donate some books and we realized that these schools do not have libraries, the kids after school just go home. We decided to do this for the kids so that after school they'll be able to stay for the teachers to guide them do their homework.

They'll also have books to learn and be able to read and write good english," he said

Nana Konadu Boakye stated that the gesture is a collaborative effort of two schools- Mesa Elementary School and Bear Creek Elementary School, Boulder, CO, in the United States of America.

According to him, the long-term aim is to create a partnership between the USA and Ghana and also an opportunity to affiliate with Ghanaian schools.

"We want to revive the pen pal program and create an affiliation for the schools so that the kids can have the opportunity to experience exchange programs, learn with the kids in USA and see how they can help them improve. The teachers will also have the opportunity to travel to the United States to be able to have that kind of cultural experience and how the Americans teach and how they run the education system," he stated.

On his part, the GES Circuit Supervisor for the area, Frank Narh said the intervention by the kick2build Foundation is a blessing for school children in the hinterlands to leverage on improving their reading skills.

"Kids in the hinterlands can now descend and come here to read because schools in this area have no library at all. This is the first time and I believe it will enhance their learning skills," he said
