The Minister nominee for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has issued a strong warning against illegal mining, stating that the government will take decisive action against anyone who flouts the law.
Speaking during his vetting on Monday, January 27, he noted that the fight against the menace will be ruthless regardless of political affiliations.
Mr Buah further highlighted that while the government is open to supporting individuals who wish to engage in legal mining, illegal activities will not be tolerated.
“We will provide a clear pathway for those who want to mine legally with government support, but we will ruthlessly deal with anybody who decides to operate outside the law. Illegal mining will not be tolerated. It doesn't matter your political party,” he warned.

Mr Armah-Kofi Buah emphasised that his focus is on tackling the pressing challenges in the mining sector, rather than engaging in partisan politics.
He assured Ghanaians that the new administration, under President John Dramani Mahama, is committed to responsible resource management and environmental protection.

"I'm not here to talk about political platforms. I'm here to talk about solving serious problems that confront the people of Ghana ...the new government is committed to ensuring that there will be no new mining in forest reserves. We will protect our water bodies with new initiatives and reclaim degraded lands," he stressed.
