Oliver Barker-Vormawor has apologised 'profusely' for his allegation of bribery against the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
He rendered the apology through his counsel, Nana Ato Dadzie, before the Appointments Committee which had hauled him to provide evidence.
"So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic," he had posted on Facebook.
While admitting to have posted the comment, considered by the committee to be offensive, his lawyer said his intention for the post had been misconstrued.
Nana Ato Dadzie said; "Mr. Chairman... We apologise, first of all, for what we posted, which we said was intended for something else," suggesting that some other posts thought to be linked to his allegation did not actually come from him.
Infuriated members of the committee, particularly from the minority side who ostensibly wanted to grill him personally, disapproved of his counsel responding to issues on his behalf and expressed disappointment they would not be allowed to take him on.
