Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Davis Ansah Opoku, has taken swift action following a fire that destroyed a teachers’ bungalow at Nkyenekyene Presbyterian Basic School in the Kwahu South Municipality.
The incident, which occurred on 9 January 2025, was allegedly caused by a mentally challenged individual and resulted in significant property loss for the resident educators.
In response to the tragedy, Opoku visited the site to assess the damage and provided GH¢ 10,000 to the Education Directorate to temporarily accommodate displaced teachers.

He also offered an undisclosed amount to the two female teachers who lost personal belongings and supplied them with bags of rice to support them during this challenging period.

Mr Opoku allocated an additional GH¢10,000 to the Ghana Fire Service to enhance future emergency responses to support fuel acquisition.

The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under investigation by local authorities.
Community members have expressed gratitude for the MP’s prompt intervention and are collaborating with authorities to support the affected teachers and prevent similar incidents in the future.
