Sports and Recreation Minister- designate, Kofi Adams, has proposed a special security arrangement for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League, following Sunday’s fatal stabbing incident.
Popular Kotoko fan, Francis Frimpong, was stabbed to death, following clashes between Nsoatreman and Kotoko fans after their matchday 19 clash.
Speaking on The Pulse on Joy News, Kofi Adams, called for special arrangements to be made for Asante Kotoko, going forward, due to a history of violence against the club in the area.
“One thing from my reading is that, anytime Kotoko is playing a match in that part of the country, there seems to be some unpleasant situations.
“Sometimes not just on the pitch, but after the game, and even at times, on their way back, they encounter such incidents.
“What it means also is that, some special arrangement will have to be made for Kotoko anytime they have to have that match in that area.”
He also assured that security protocols will be enhanced before the next Ghana Premier League matchday.
“You are not going to have the same thing as in the past. We will improve security at the venues,” he said.
The Ghana Football Association has since halted the Ghana Premier League and slapped Nsoatreman with an indefinite home ban.
