The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls as part of efforts to generate revenue for road maintenance and related projects.
To ensure efficiency and transparency, the Ministry in a statement issued on February 6, noted that it is developing a modern, technologically-driven toll collection system.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the proposed system is expected to enhance revenue collection.
To achieve this objective, the Ministry has pledged to adopt an open, transparent, competitive, cost-effective, and fair procurement process.
"The Ministry wishes to assure the public of commitment to introducing a modernized system that addresses the current tolling and road maintenance funding challenges of the country," it added.
