Demonstrators have been calling for the departure of French troops for weeks

Senegal and France will set up a joint commission to organise the departure of French troops from Senegal and the restitution of French military bases by the end of 2025, the foreign ministers of both countries said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
"The two countries intend to work towards a new defence and security partnership that takes into account the strategic priorities of all parties," the statement said.
