The Amasaman Circuit Court has granted three people a GH¢50,000 bail each over the alleged snatching of a handbag containing a mobile phone, cash, and personal effects.
The Court ordered that Richard Lamptey, Michael Tetteh and Bright Boamah, should get two sureties each, to effect the bail.
The sureties are to be justified with titled documents as well as deposit their valid national identity cards with the Court’s Registry.
Lamptey, Tetteh and Boamah, all commercial motorbike riders (Okada) denied conspiring to rob Madam Emelia Tettey.
They will make their next appearance on April 2, 2025.
Police Chief Inspector Benjamin Arthur, giving the facts, said Madam Tettey, the Complainant, was a trader living at Sampaman, whilst the accused persons: Lamptey, Tetteh and Boamah lived at Dome Sampaman Addeyman and Kwashiekuma, respectively.
He said on October 23, 2024, at about 0400 hours, the Complainant was standing at the Dome Sampaman roadside waiting for a vehicle to the Adjen Kotoku Onion Market.
As she stood amid two others, the accused persons armed with machete and riding on an unregistered motorbike, suddenly pulled up and furiously ordered her to surrender everything in her possession to them else, they would butcher her.
Chief Inspector Arthur said for fear of her life, she threw her bag containing a cash of GH¢9,250.00, iphone 12 pro valued at GH¢7,000.00, Ghana Card, Voter ID Card, NHIS Card, 2 ATM Cards and a phone charger away but accused persons succeeded in robbing complainant of the said bag.
Intelligence gathered led to the arrest of accused persons, the Court heard.
The Prosecution said when they were cautioned, Tetteh admitted having conspired with Lamptey and Boamah to rob and rob the complainant.
After investigations, they were arraigned.
