The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, says while many appointments in the country have been challenged, his appointment was smooth.
Speaking during a meeting with the Exporters and Importers Association on Monday at his office, he expressed his gratitude, stating that since President John Mahama appointed him to lead the authority, no individual or group has questioned his appointment.
“You may see in Ghana here that there have been several appointments that some stakeholders have been petitioned, challenged and some have gone on demonstration but mine has been smooth sailing,” he said.
Professor Gyampo thanked the association for their confidence in him, acknowledging that he had not realised his public contributions on national issues were being closely observed positively.
Recently, several appointments have faced opposition, including that of Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama as Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
Before his appointment, Prof. Gyampo was a lecturer at the University of Ghana, known for his neutrality on national issues.
On the subject of reforming the shipping industry, he assured that he would work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to drive significant growth and achieve the sector's main objectives.
