The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has called on the youth to actively explore opportunities in both the formal and informal sectors to contribute to building the country's future.
In an interview on Joy News' The Pulse, Mr Kwetey emphasised, "To build the country we want, we must all recognise that it is not always the responsibility of the government.”
He explained that discussions around national development often paint a picture of helplessness, making it seem as though progress depends solely on government action.
“It often feels like we are saying that if the government doesn’t act, we cannot achieve anything,” he remarked.
Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about the nation's future. He believes that, while the government may not always be able to provide everything needed, there are still ample opportunities for growth.
“Solutions can still be found,” he said confidently.
Mr Kwetey pointed to individuals and businesses who, despite facing challenges, continue to expand their opportunities and grow each year.
“The same can be achieved at every level, even in the informal sector, where people can still thrive, all of this contributes to the overall growth of Ghana’s economy,” he concluded.
