The Council of State Representative for Volta region, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has donated seven motorcycles to the Duamenefa Foundation to support community reporters in their work across the region and parts of Togo.
The donation, which targets journalists in Keta Municipality, Akatsi South, Ketu South, Ketu North, Anlo District, and cross-border communities in Zanguera, Segbe, and Akanu, aims to enhance mobility and efficiency in covering critical local issues.
This move aligns with Mr Kwamigah-Atokple’s broader vision of strengthening community engagement in governance and development efforts.

For years, the Duamenefa Foundation, a leading community-focused organisation, has played a pivotal role in investigative journalism, social interventions, and advocacy.
However, mobility challenges have often hindered its reporters from reaching remote areas to uncover pressing socio-economic and governance issues.
With the addition of these motorcycles, community journalists can now navigate difficult terrains with ease, ensuring that underreported stories are brought to light and that local voices are amplified in national conversations.

The Executive Board of Governors of Fafaa FM, the media partner of the Duamenefa Foundation, expressed profound gratitude to Mr Kwamigah-Atokple for his generosity.
"The chiefs, assembly members, and community leaders, together with the general public, are grateful to God for your sponsorship of the AGENDA 2024, 2025, and 2026 project," the board stated in an official acknowledgment letter.
Speaking on the impact of the donation, the leadership of Duamenefa Foundation emphasised how the motorcycles will revolutionise their reporting efforts, allowing them to respond swiftly to community concerns, document developmental gaps, and hold leaders accountable.
Mr Kwamigah-Atokple reaffirmed his commitment to empowering grassroots initiatives, stressing that access to timely and credible information is crucial for national development.

The founder of the Tanko Foundation also urged other stakeholders to support similar initiatives aimed at enhancing civic participation and governance at the local level.
This latest donation adds to Mr Kwamigah-Atokple’s extensive efforts in supporting education, media, and community development. His contributions reflect a clear vision: to build informed and engaged communities that can advocate for their own development.
As community reporters hit the ground with renewed vigor, the ripple effect of this intervention will be felt across local governance, social advocacy, and developmental journalism.
With this act of generosity, Mr Kwamigah-Atokple has once again proven that grassroots development thrives when local voices are empowered. The challenge now is for other leaders and organizations to step up and support initiatives that drive positive, lasting change in Ghana’s communities.
