Five individuals have been sentenced by the Tamale Circuit Court for various drug-related offences, including the unauthorised sale, possession, and distribution of restricted and narcotic drugs.
The convicts, identified as Iddrisu Fidaws, Alhassan Wumpini, Bassit Iddrisu, Alhassan Adam, and Haruna Mohammed Sadais, were arrested on March 5, 2025, during a police patrol in Tamale.
They were found in possession of tramadol, rohypnol, and cannabis.

The court, after reviewing the evidence and considering the accused persons’ admissions, handed down varying sentences.
Iddrisu Fidaws was convicted on four counts, fined GH₵90,000.00 on two counts (or 15 years imprisonment in default) and GH₵7,200.00 on the other two counts (or 10 years imprisonment in default).
Alhassan Wumpini was convicted on four counts, fined GH₵90,000.00 on two counts (or 10 years imprisonment in default) and GH₵10,800.00 on the other two counts (or 10 years imprisonment in default).
Bassit Iddrisu was convicted on two counts, fined GH₵19,200.00 on each count (or 6 years imprisonment in default).

Alhassan Adam was convicted on three counts, fined GH₵90,000.00 on one count (or 15 years imprisonment in default), GH₵10,800.00 on another count (or 10 years imprisonment in default), and an unspecified fine on the third count.
Haruna Mohammed Sadais was convicted on two counts, fined GH₵99,996.00 on one count (or 17 years imprisonment in default) and GH₵84,000.00 on the other count (or 10 years imprisonment in default).
Following their inability to settle the fines, the convicts have been placed in prison custody.
