A heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong, gusty winds and lightning late Tuesday afternoon has led to reported destruction across Accra.
At Kokomlemle, the storm briefly disrupted transmission of a number of radio platforms of the Multimedia Group, while at the A&C Mall at East Legon, it caused the collapse of a carport and the damage of several vehicles.

The storm also frustrated drivers and commuters as it compounded the usual rush-hour traffic, leading to calls on the police to intervene in many places.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency had warned of the coming storm hours ahead. It had been sunny since morning until the heavens opened suddenly, heralded by the gusty winds.

At Kotobabi, Accra New Town, a man was trapped in his car as a tree fell on the vehicle.
