Parliament has approved a budget allocation of GH₵1.28 billion for the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition for the 2025 fiscal year.
The funding is aimed at supporting the government’s energy policies, advancing renewable energy projects, and promoting sustainable initiatives to transition Ghana toward a greener economy.
The approved budget will cater to various critical areas, including energy infrastructure development, expansion of renewable energy sources, and programs to enhance energy efficiency across different sectors.
Additionally, as part of its 2025 objectives, the Ministry plans to acquire and deploy one million smart meters across its operational zones under the Programme for Results policy.
Furthermore, it aims to incorporate private sector involvement in electricity distribution to improve efficiency and service quality.
