The police on Saturday, March 29, arrested Wonder Babanawo, a suspected robber who had been on its wanted list for a series of robberies within Ashaiman and parts of Tema.
His accomplice, one Karim Fatao, was arrested on February 26, 2025, during one of the robbery expeditions, whilst Babanawo managed to escape.
A press release issued by the Police Public Affairs Directorate and copied to the Ghana News Agency said they were nabbed by the Tema Regional Police Command for attacking and robbing a businessman on that day at Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region.
“A search on the suspects led to the retrieval of the following items; a Ruger pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, 30 mobile phone covers, six SIM cards, a quantity of dried plant material suspected to be Indian Hemp, one Samsung tablet and three copies of land indenture,” it said.
Suspect Fatao was put before the Court on March 3, 2025, and was remanded into police custody.
Babanawo is currently in police custody and will be arraigned to face justice, the release said.
