President John Mahama has called for stronger collaboration between the private sectors of Ghana and the Czech Republic, urging them to explore new opportunities for cooperation in various sectors of the economy.
Speaking at the Jubilee House during the meeting of Czech President Petr Pavel, President Mahama expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing business roundtable discussions between Ghanaian and Czech business leaders.
He stressed that trade and investment are crucial for strengthening economic relations and highlighted the importance of increasing the currently low levels of trade between the two countries.
“Trade and investment can serve as the foundation of our economic relations, but much more can be done to increase the low levels of trade between our two nations,” President Mahama stated.
He also pointed to the vast potential of the African market, which has a population of approximately 1.3 billion people, and invited the Czech business community to partner with their Ghanaian counterparts to take advantage of opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
At the multilateral level, President Mahama acknowledged the longstanding and productive cooperation between Ghana and the Czech Republic in various international forums, including the United Nations.
“Our cooperation has been excellent, and I look forward to it continuing and deepening in the future,” he said.
The visit of President Pavel is expected to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries, with a focus on boosting trade and investment.
