The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has issued a strong warning to heads of health training institutions, cautioning against any attempts to intimidate or unduly influence him in the execution of his mandate.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement with the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) on April 16, 2025, the Minister stressed the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and professionalism in addressing concerns within the health training sector.

He emphasized that while his office remains open to constructive discussions, actions that fuel tension or attempt to pressure the Ministry into making decisions will not be tolerated.
So please, if you want to come to me or any of the offices in the Ministry, please, let's open our doors to you. And don't cause a harm before you come here. Whenever you come and discuss with me in the office, nobody will know in the public arena,” he stated.
The Minister also expressed concern over the tendency of some institutional heads to incite students or escalate issues publicly without first exhausting available channels of communication with the Ministry.
“So, those of you who think that if a decision is taken from the ministries, you won't have the patience and even follow-up, and you incite students to go on demonstration, I will not be intimidated,” he added.
Mr. Akandoh reiterated his commitment to transparent and collaborative governance but warned that deliberate attempts to undermine the Ministry’s authority would be firmly resisted.
He urged COHHETI members to prioritize open dialogue and seek resolution through the appropriate administrative processes.
