Madam Ebi Bright, the newly confirmed Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has initiated an emergency plan to rehabilitate the deplorable harbour road.
Madam Bright, a few days in office, led a team of engineers from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to initiate an emergency repair project on the 300-metre stretch of road, which forms part of the Tema Harbour road, also known as the “Akosombo Road.”
The emergency repair works would target the most deplorable portion of the road, which lies within the lowest point along the entire stretch.
She noted that the primary objective of the road repairs was to provide immediate relief to the high volume of drivers and commuters who depend on the Harbour Road on a daily basis.
The said road, even though is an important stretch in the transportation of goods from the Tema Port, has big trenches on it, making it difficult and dangerous for haulage trucks to easily manoeuvre, a situation motorists fear could lead to serious crashes as the truck could turn over.
The Tema MCE also announced plans to desilt the drains along the remaining two-kilometre road leading to the Tema Motorway interchange to improve water drainage, especially with the rainy season approaching.
The project highlights the MCE’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and the quality of life for the residents of Tema.
