A late-night fire outbreak behind Ferro Fabrik Limited at the Tema Heavy Industrial Area has destroyed over 500 wooden structures.
The wooden structures, which served both domestic and commercial purposes, caught fire in the late hours of Wednesday, June 18; however, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
A swift and coordinated response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel managed to salvage several wooden structures, including Ferro Fabrik Limited and adjacent factories, preventing the fire from spreading further to cause extensive damage to other properties.

Divisional Officer II Ebenezer Yenzu, the Public Relations Officer, GNFS, Tema Region, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) his office received a distress call at about 23:52 hours, and the first fire appliance was dispatched from the Tema Industrial Area Fire Station, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Orlando Adablanu, and arrived at the scene at about 23:58 hours.
He said the firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 01:59 hours, and it was fully extinguished by 05:43 hours on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
He said the operation was reinforced by six additional fire engines from Tema Metro, Motorway, Ashaiman, Newtown, Devtraco, and the BOST fire stations.

The effort also received support from the Tema Regional Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer II (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, other senior GNFS officers, and partner emergency response agencies, he said.
DOII Yenzu praised the personnel for their prompt, tactical, and well-coordinated response, which he said was instrumental in saving lives and protecting critical infrastructure within the industrial enclave.
He said investigations into the cause of the fire were currently underway.
