Ghana’s creative and performing arts scene is abuzz with excitement as the country officially announces its participation in the 2025 edition of the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), set to take place in Long Beach, California from July 15 to 24.
Often referred to as the "Olympics of the Performing Arts," the WCOPA brings together performers from over 60 countries in a global celebration of talent, culture, and creativity.
Ghana’s participation marks a significant opportunity to showcase its vibrant artistic community on the world stage.
The 2025 campaign aligns with the Black Star Experience initiative of the Government of Ghana, which aims to project the country’s cultural and creative excellence globally.
This year, Ghana will be represented by a selected team of 10 members, including a singer, a painter, a saxophonist, and the National Director of WCOPA Ghana 2025.
The team is poised to highlight the richness of Ghana’s artistic heritage and leave a lasting impression on the global audience.
According to the organisers of Ghana’s participation, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has fully endorsed the country’s participation, recognising the international exposure and economic potential the championship presents.
The Ministry is offering its full support to ensure the team’s success.
“This is more than just a competition—it is a cultural mission,” said a representative from the organisers. “We are thrilled to share Ghana’s incredible talent with the USA and the rest of the world.”
Organisers are calling on all stakeholders—from individuals and corporate sponsors to public institutions—to support the initiative through financial assistance, resource mobilisation, moral encouragement, and promotion of the participating artistes.
“Let’s come together to make this a memorable and proud moment for Ghana,” the statement read. “Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future in the arts.”
The organisers urged potential sponsors, collaborators, and other interested parties to contact the official partner of WCOPA Ghana 2025, Nuah and Moon Ocean Limited, via NicholasA@wcopa.com or Ceo@nauhmoon.com, or by phone at 0540664776 / 0241016688.
