President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the newly inaugurated GoldBod Taskforce to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and discipline as they take on the fight against illegal mining across the country.
Speaking at the official launch of the taskforce in Accra, Mr Mahama reminded officers of the weight of the responsibility placed on their shoulders, describing the assignment as one of national importance.
“To the GoldBod Task Force members, you have been entrusted with extraordinary responsibility. Serve with honour,” he said.
“Uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and discipline. This assignment is not business as usual. It is a matter of national duty and pride.”
He warned that any breach of conduct or violation of their oath would be met with serious consequences under the law.
“Breaches of your oath will be met with swift and lawful consequences,” he stressed. “The Ghanaian people are watching, and so is the world."
The GoldBod Taskforce, established to address the crisis, is expected to operate under strict oversight measures, including the use of body cameras, GPS-tracked vehicles, and written warrants for all field operations.
