Actor and comedian Kalybos, born Richard Asante, has urged his fellow celebrities to allow their fans to get close to them whenever the opportunity arises.
He explained that the title of “celebrity” is given by the people who admire them and their craft.
Therefore, it is important for celebrities to respect and be friendly toward their fans.
Kalybos spoke on Joy Prime’s Changes show with Roselyn Felli.
“I know the fun and excitement of a fan when they see a celebrity. So I don’t think I'm growing into becoming one; I should give someone who idolises me the opportunity to get close because if they’re not giving you that accolade, you’re no one.”
Before rising to fame, Kalybos idolised celebrities like John Dumelo and Majid Michel, people he eventually had the chance to meet. This, he says, helps him understand how it feels to be a fan.
According to him, this is why he’s usually kind to people and cherishes every moment he shares with his fans.
However, when women approach him with romantic intentions, he simply categorises them as fans, noting that he is married.
“It never ceases,” he said.
