The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with a daylight robbery that occurred near Shama Junction at Nyanikrom on Wednesday, 9th July 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Police, the arrests followed a targeted surveillance operation, based on credible intelligence indicating that a group of suspects armed with insider information were planning to ambush company officials transporting cash meant for salary payments.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. on the day in question, staff of the unnamed company had withdrawn a significant sum of money from a bank in Takoradi.


While returning to their premises, the vehicle transporting the funds was intercepted by armed suspects riding a motorbike and an unregistered saloon car near Unique School Junction in Nyanikrom.
The assailants reportedly smashed the vehicle’s window and fled with the cash.
With swift action by police personnel stationed in the area as part of the intelligence-led operation, three suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident. The stolen amount, totalling GH¢149,500.00, was recovered in full.
The suspects have been identified as 34-year-old Francis Mensah alias Francis Kwaw, 32-year-old Ebenezer Cofie, and 35-year-old Samuel Bentum. They are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
Police further disclosed that a company driver, identified as Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, is believed to have played a role in the heist and is currently on the run. Efforts are underway to apprehend him.
The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to combating crime and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
