Ghana has joined a growing list of countries to host the REM Conference, a global youth-centred leadership and values training programme that originated in Los Angeles in 1990.
The conference, which has travelled across more than 15 countries including the USA, Korea, Germany, and Kenya, seeks to empower young people through transformational messages and intercultural dialogue.
Held in Accra, the 2025 REM Conference brought together students, young professionals, and leaders from Ghana and Korea, creating a space for learning, character-building, and global networking.
With core sessions focused on identity, purpose, forgiveness, and leadership ethics, participants were encouraged to reflect deeply on their personal development and role in society.
The event was organized by the Rhema Evangelical Mission in collaboration with Yemyung Graduate University, a Korean institution that has trained hundreds of international students, including many Ghanaians. The strong participation of Ghanaian students in previous conferences in Korea inspired the organizers to bring the program to Ghana for the first time.
As part of efforts to sustain the initiative, REM organizers signed memoranda of understanding with several universities in Ghana, laying the groundwork for ongoing partnerships and future programs.
According to the organizers, the goal is to make the conference an annual event in Ghana, fostering a long-term relationship with Ghanaian institutions and youth networks.
Beyond the conference, participants were encouraged to maintain peer connections and continue value-based engagements with their mentors, a move organizers believe will help deepen impact and strengthen ties between Ghana and Korea.
