Parliament’s Appointments Committee is scheduled to vet four deputy ministerial nominees on Friday, July 25, in what will be the final round of assessments for President John Mahama’s deputy ministerial appointments.
The nominees set to appear before the committee are: James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North – nominated as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro – nominated as Deputy Minister for Transport, Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West – nominated as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan – nominated as Deputy Minister for Health.
These nominations were part of the final batch submitted to Parliament by President Mahama on July 9, 2025, under Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
The list was formally communicated to Parliament by the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on behalf of the President.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin referred the nominees to the Appointments Committee for vetting on July 17, stressing the importance of a thorough and objective assessment process.
“Let the committee do its work properly. I will not stampede the House to approve them until the due process is followed,” the Speaker said.
The upcoming vetting marks the final phase in the President’s ministerial appointments, bringing the total number of deputy ministers closer to full complement as the administration consolidates its governance structure in key sectors including foreign affairs, transport, communication, and health.
