Afrofuture, in partnership with WatsUp TV, has launched the Afrofuture Rising Star on Campus — a nationwide talent discovery initiative aimed at spotlighting, mentoring, and empowering student artists across Ghana’s top universities.
The program seeks to nurture young talent and contribute to the growth of the country’s creative economy.
Running from July through October 2025, the initiative is part of the WatsUp on Campus tour. It gives student musicians a unique platform to perform live before their peers and a panel of industry professionals.
At each campus stop, shortlisted contestants will audition, with the top five performers earning a chance to perform on the main WatsUp stage during the campus event.
This year’s tour will visit:
- University of Cape Coast (UCC)
- University of Media Arts and Communication (GIJ)
- Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU)
- Koforidua Technical University (KTU)
- University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani
- University of Mines and Technology (UMaT)
- Sunyani Technical University (STU)
- University of Ghana (Legon)
The campus tour forms part of the broader Afrofuture Rising Star Challenge 2025, which culminates in December. Finalists will benefit from mentorship, professional training, and performance opportunities through The Continent Live.
Top performers from the tour will automatically advance to the final 12 of the international Afrofuture Rising Star Challenge, where they will compete for a grand prize including a cash award, a single distribution deal, a performance slot at Afrofuture Festival, and more.
